Municipal elections in Lyon. "No decision has been made": Jean-Michel Aulas remains vague about his intentions

Will Jean-Michel Aulas run in the 2026 Lyon municipal elections? With less than a year to go before the election, the former president of Olympique Lyonnais has still not formalized his candidacy but claims to have received "strong requests."
For several weeks, the "boss" has been keeping the suspense alive after announcing that he was considering a possible candidacy. However, he has been multiplying his attacks on Grégory Doucet 's municipality on social media, and many prominent figures have expressed their willingness to join him.
This Tuesday, May 13, during a press conference at the French Football Federation on the subject of women's football , the question was inevitably asked. The Lyon business leader replied: "It's a question I was waiting for. No decision has been made."
The FFF vice-president was also questioned about the compatibility of his duties within the Federation and possible political responsibilities.
"As always, when you have an entrepreneurial and sporting background, you have this ability to solve problems. If both things were to eventually come up, we would probably have to prioritize. Today, we are not there yet; the political mandate is absolutely not an official topic. I dedicate myself 100% to the Federation."
We will therefore have to wait a little longer to know exactly Jean-Michel Aulas's real position on the upcoming municipal elections in 2026.
